Newry Canal and Carlingford Lough

Newry Maritime Association were delighted to once again host our friends from Bolton Council: Cllrs Martin Donaghy, Emily Mort, Liam Barnard, Richard and friends.

We had the opportunity to showcase our wonderful and historic canal and Carlingford Lough. It was amazing to sail through the work going on at the Narrow Water bridge. We were also very fortunate that the weather was on our side and that we could sail to the Haulbowline Lighthouse near Cranfield Point.

The lighthouse has a particular significance for the Maritime Association. We have had a number of civic events across the years where we externally lit the lighthouse for the month of August.

We extend our gratitude to Michael Cunningham, who sailed and navigated us safely on our journey, and thank you to Philip who assisted him.
